New Hope Medical Center has found that many times symptoms may be improved and possibly reversed with our alternative Prostate Cancer treatment. Prostate cancer is the most common male cancer in the United States. The American Cancer Society estimated approximately 230,900 new cases were diagnosed in 2004. The average age for prostate cancer is 70 years of age.
The prostate is about the size of a walnut and is a gland in the male which surrounds the neck of the bladder and the urethra. The prostate consists of a middle lobe and two side lobes. It is made up of glandular material and has ducts which empty into the urethra. The gland is covered by a membrane called the capsule which produces prostate-specific antigen. This is also called PSA which is used as a tumor marker for prostate cancer. Doctors can perform a biopsy to determine whether your prostate gland has cancer. A biopsy is a test where a piece of the prostate is checked under the microscope. Cancer treatment is performed to remove this.
Prostate cancer may spread to the pelvis, ribs, and vertebral bodies.
Prostate cancer often is slowly progressive and may cause no symptoms. Other symptoms may include:

- A feeling that you were unable to empty the bladder when you finished urinating.
